In the heart of Ghana's Ashanti Region, where possibility often felt like a distant dream, Ellen's story began. Growing up in Mfensi, a small community where ambitions were often limited by circumstance, Ellen's determination and resilience would become the foundation of a remarkable journey. Today, as Managing Executive of Corporate & Investment Banking at Absa Bank Ghana LTD, Ellen is rewriting the narrative for women in finance, proving that even the smallest beginnings can lead to extraordinary heights. Ellen's earliest inspiration came from a pharmacist who visited her village, symbolizing hope and possibility. "She stood for something I could not yet name at the time," Ellen recalls. This spark ignited a passion for impact, leading her to study Agricultural Economics at KNUST. It was here that numbers transformed from mere digits to stories of livelihoods, growth, and development. Ellen's entry into banking was serendipitous, but her impact has been deliberate. At Absa Bank Ghana, she discovered that banking is not just transactions; it's about enabling ambition. "It's the bridge between an entrepreneur's idea and a growing enterprise," she says. This realization has guided her leadership, driving strategic growth, innovation, and stakeholder engagement. Ellen's career hasn't been without challenges. A forged signature in a fraudulent transaction led to an investigation, testing her integrity. "I leaned on my faith, family, and discipline," she says. Exonerated and promoted, Ellen transformed this experience into a catalyst for stronger risk management and ethical leadership. "Ethical leadership is not situational, but the constant behaviour you bring into every room," she emphasises. Ellen's leadership is rooted in curiosity, courage, and commitment. She's built high-impact teams, driven business performance, and contributed to industry development. As a Council Member and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers Ghana, Ellen invests in people, mentoring women and empowering emerging leaders. Ellen's advice to young women in finance is clear: "Invest in yourself continuously. Read widely, ask questions, and seek stretch assignments." She emphasises building a strong network, guarding integrity, and choosing impact. "Finance is profoundly human; remember the people at the end of the decision." With her story, Ellen inspires a generation of women to dream big, lead with purpose, and create lasting impact. From Mfensi to the C-suite, her journey is a testament to the power of resilience, integrity, and unwavering ambition. The spark of ambition
